This first newsletter is designed to help you prepare for Meet the Teacher.
Registration: Have you completed the on-line registration process for your child? This is a MUST in order to receive a call from your child's teacher for your Meet the Teacher time. If you have not done so already, please complete registration by August 1, 2024. Each year, parents/guardians are required to update and confirm information for all Jenks Public Schools students.

Meet the Teacher Phone Call: Only families who have completed the registration process will receive a call from the teacher. Your child's homeroom teacher will be calling you on Friday, August 9 or Monday, August 12 to schedule an appointment to meet your child's teacher so make sure you answer the phone on those days. This will be a live call not a recorded one.
30 Minutes Before Your Appointment: Before you meet your teacher, go to the cafeteria (North Doors) and (1) Pick up your Chromebook. (2) Purchase Chromebook insurance. (3) Purchase School Supplies (which you can take directly to your child's teacher's classroom).
If you purchased school supplies online when you completed the registration process, please make sure you bring your receipt. Additionally, if you choose to purchase school supplies on your own, you may bring those with you at your Meet the Teacher date and time.
You MUST have your child’s Chromebook device in hand when you come to the classroom to meet the teacher. So arrive at least 15-30 minutes ahead of your Meet the Teacher appointment time.

Meet the Teacher Event: The Meet the Teacher event at Jenks West Intermediate is on Tuesday, August 13. This event is by appointment only.
The JPS Instructional Calendar Committee emphasized the importance of ending the school year before Memorial Day. To achieve this goal, the calendars for the next two years have been shortened by six (6) instructional days. The school day has been lengthened by 15 minutes to make up the instructional time. School start times will be 10 minutes earlier and school end times will be 5 minutes later starting in the 2024-25 school year.

DISTANCE LEARNING DAYS
For the 2024-25 school year, six dates are set aside as Distance Learning Days for all JPS students and Collaboration Days for staff members. Students will stay home on these dates to participate in distance learning. Teachers will notify students of assignments via Canvas or other digital platforms.
JPS staff members will meet on these dates to collaborate, but students will not attend school in-person on the dates listed below:
